Welcome to Ludlow Pediatrics

March 29, 2019

Dear Patients of Ludlow Pediatrics;

I am writing to inform you that Dr. Kates and Dr. Rounds have decided to leave Ludlow Pediatrics. Dr. Kates' last day in the office will be April 29, 2019. Dr Rounds' last day will be June 13, 2019. I have been honored to work with them and I wish them well.

Ludlow Pediatrics has provided quality care and service to our patients since 1955 and we welcome the opportunity to continue to provide health care services to you and your family. On April 18, 2019, Shannon Kurzeski, FNP-C, MSN, RN will be starting to work at Ludlow Pediatrics. She is a skilled pediatric provider with many years of experience caring for children and families and will be joining me in providing care to both current patients and new families. She has 5 children of her own and has owned and operated her own health care agency caring for children to adults. She is a wonderful person and provider that I know you will grow to love as you have me.

Rest assured that I am not going anywhere for a long time. And you will be seeing more of me as we continue to provide for all of your child's health care needs. There will be no gaps in any patient care services.

I am recruiting another doctor who I hope to sign soon. As soon as that happens, we will let you know and place it on the website,, the Facebook page and here in the office.

There will be many changes coming to Ludlow Pediatrics that I am sure you will be happy with. First, we added some new-old staff that you loved for many years. We are beginning our first journey with using an EMR (Electronic Medical Record). It should be a big improvement on our paper charts. Please bear with us as we take steps to learn this. Our go-live date is scheduled for May 20th.

Next, I plan to also add in a dietitian to help with nutritional issues and a therapist/counselor to help with behavioral problems, as we expand the diagnoses that we are capable of handling. Having them in the office should eliminate the problems with insurances.

Should you wish to remain with Drs. Kates or Dr Rounds following their departure from Ludlow Pediatrics, they can be reached at Holyoke Pediatric Associates, 413-536-2393 and our office staff can assist you with the transfer of your records. (You may need to inform your insurance company of a change of PCP.

Ludlow Pediatrics remains committed to your family's good health and we look forward to continuing to care for your children. Please do not hesitate to contact me personally, 413-589-9494, with any questions.
